In the World Cup season 2015/2016 with his victory on the Streif in Kitzbühel he was the first Italian ever to bring home the small crystal ball for the downhill world championship.
The 37-year-old South Tyrolean raced for the last time in Garmisch in 2020, ending his successful career as an athlete, after 355 appearances and 22 podiums in three specialties.
His family. His wife and children are his “battery charger” and when he is at home he accumulates the energy he needs to go down the slopes all over the world at 140 km/h.
